SOME INFORMATION RE THE HABC K9 SPORT EVENTS IN 2011….
The HABC K9 EVENTS which have taken place at the HABC shows and at the NKC SHOWS in Nottingham this year also, have proven to be very popular with the number of entries and those wishing to participate growing all the time.
These events were created and established to provide a much needed structured sport outlet for dogs of this breed, one that was safe, and one that ALL owners and their dog could easily train for and take part in, on a level playing field, where first and foremost the focus would be on providing and maintaining an encouraging atmosphere and good camaraderie, where any new comers to veterans in a K9 sport area etc. alike would be encouraging and supportive to one another and off course the dogs, even though there are competitive aspect to the events also!
It has been great to see the dog/handler teams grow and progress over the year, the good camaraderie witnessed at these events has been fantastic and justifies our reasons for starting them. Thanks to all involved )
It had become quite apparent now though not only by the club members but in discussions with participants of these events over this year that to continue providing these events that there was a real need for the introduction of some “formal” Criteria, Rules and Guidelines for the event to have any credibility in the long term, and to ensure that these events remain safe, promote fair play and create the expectation that to participate in these events then nothing less than good sportsmanlike behaviour and conduct from ALL competitors will be tolerated.
The need to formalise these events and establish some much needed consistency for each event and each event day held throughout the year, is imperative in providing a good grounding for the event and to enable safe training practices, with all event rules being known about and enforced at every event day.
The HABC will be introducing other events including a system for handler / dog teams to earn “Annual Awards” based on certain criteria/s for instance to include the total number of points they have built up from every event entered throughout the year…. We value your opinions and idead….so please get in touch and give us your input before the end of the year.
We will finalise all the formal criteria and event rules and guidelines for the beginning of next year, when they should be available to download from the HABC website. All HABC K9 SPORT EVENTS results will be available online to view and track in 2011.
Thanks to all those Participants who supported the HABC K9 SPORT EVENTS in 2010 and Thanks to all those who got involved as spectators, cheer leaders!! ect for these events also:o)
THANKS to every one who
comes out and supports these shows.....
We look forward to seeing you all again ~ from All at the H.A.B.C~
