Everyone at the HABC would like to say a BIG THANKS for all
the kind comments received about the HABC WEEKEND SHOW on SAT 29th & SUN 30th July 06.
Hopwood American Bulldog Club Weekend Show Report
Sanctioned Working Events & ABNA Conformation Show
Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th July 2006
ROMLET SCHUTZHUND CLUB, ROMFORD, ESSEX, UK
WABA JUDGE:
WADE WILDE ( USA )
AKC –CGC JUDGE:
GREG SOUZA ( USA )
ABNA CONFORMATION JUDGE:
JOHN BONELLO ( CANADA )
THANKS & ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS….
We would like to thank ALL the people that traveled down from Scotland, the Far North, North, & Midlands for what was the HABC’s first show in the South of England,
It was a long weekend and we know you all had a fair distance to go home… your support was very much appreciated and noted….
We would also like to thank ALL those from the South that did turn out, many of the same faces that do travel to our shows up North… your support was very much appreciated and noted also….
We know all the above and the HABC were disappointed that the majority of the people who have been “complaining” about having an AB show in the South ….
In the end didn’t turn up to support one when it happened, even with the added opportunity of seeing Working American Bulldog Events as well as the Conformation Show....
The lack of attendance & support from those people complaining about their being no shows & events down south for the AB, makes it unlikely that the HABC will host another ‘WEEKEND’ Working & conformation show down South again in the near future…
We would not turn our backs on those that did come out and those that already travel from the South up North …
So we will of course remain open about hosting another ABNA conformation show in the South to continue to support those who did turn out for the Conformation Show, but not a weekend working & conformation show.
This was the only really negative aspect we feel to the weekend ….
Oh…. apart from the ground, which was unfortunately sun-baked and not the best of surfaces on approach to the ring… but was really unavoidable due to the extreme hot weather that the venue had seen over the past few weeks.
Overall it was a FANSTASTIC weekend, with great people & great well behaved dogs, which made for a really relaxed atmosphere.
The weather was hot with a slight breeze on the Sat…the dogs in the working events didn’t seem to mind!.... and performed regardless
Fortunately there was more of a breeze on the Sunday….
Which helped keep the dogs and people cooler, but also meant us humans could be taken by surprise so Sun-Block was an essential!
Thanks as always to everyone who came to the show,
whether this was to participate in the classes
or to watch the working events & conformation show ……
Cheers for your support.
There were again a number of spectators some with AB's
that weren't entered in the events & conformation classes who just came
for the social aspect of the show....
to meet up and talk with fellow American Bulldog enthusiasts...
And others new to the breed that came to check out and learn about the American Bulldog breed.
As said above this created a great friendly atmosphere and we would like to
thank everyone for contributing to what was a great weekend.
We began the weekend on the Saturday with the WABA events.
A Special Thank You to the Judge for these events WADE WILDE (USA) for taking the time out to come over on his first trip to the UK to judge the WABA canine sport event entrants… Wade is a highly respected judge in his field… hard but fair.
Cheers Wade….
And thanks to all those people & AB’s who participated in the WABA events….
There was a very supportive atmosphere, with lots of encouragement from fellow participants & spectators…. we look forward to seeing even more enter these events next year….
Those dogs & handlers who passed their tests are listed with the working results of the weekend show.
The AKC – Canine Good Citizens (CGC’s) evaluations were held on the Sunday….
A special Thank You also to the evaluator GREG SOUZA (USA) for taking time out to come over again to the UK to evaluate all the entrants for the CCG testing…
As always when Greg Souza evaluates the dogs & helpers for these awards,
he did a great job in relaxing the entrants first by explaining the tests, and taking entrants through the requirements, this helped enormously in creating a relaxed atmosphere, which was for most people their first experience of a canine test.
Cheers Greg, and thanks to all those of you that entered and continue to support temperament tests for our breed… hope to see some of you moving on to the next level of WABA test or other credible canine sports with your dogs next year…
There were 13 entrants on the day… and these are listed with the other working results of the Weekend Show.
A special Thank You to the ABNA Conformation Judge of the Day
JOHN BONELLO (Canada)
for taking time out to come over to the UK for the first time and
for doing a fantastic job of judging the conformation show.
He was a very approachable guy, and consistent in his judging.
He took his time going over the dogs in each class, and gave summary at the end of each class as to how he reached each decision he made….
All the feedback we have received so far about his judging from
winners / non winners / spectators has been very positive.
Cheers John and we hope you also enjoy the ABNA show in Germany this weekend.
Thanks to Wade Wilde & John Bonello for giving help and advice, & working a few of the dogs on the Saturday Afternoon, with those people who had an interests in working their dogs in sportwork….. we hope to see some of these dogs & owners in the future events.
We would also like to thank the show sponsors
you guys help to ease the burden again
it would be hard for us to do it without the support
and to the numerous people who kindly donated towards the Raffle.
A SPECIAL BIG THANKS - To “Char” as none club member & none dog person!
She is a familiar face now helping out in all aspects at the HABC shows….
Cheers Girlie….for helping on the entrance Saturday & the registration desk on Sun &
for doing a great job as the neutral person in the ring on Sunday...
amongst the many other things she helped out with…. she is truly indespensible.
A special Thanks also to “Woody”, for doing the Video Tape of all the WABA events which the WABA require as a record of the tests and the Judge has to submit to them along with the results. Cheers also for taking some of the photos of the Conformation Show on Sunday.
Cheers also to Jordan Owen for collecting for the raffle & to
anyone else who gave us a helping hand over the weekend..….
It’s very much appreciated.
We would also like to thank ….
ALL the members of Dave Wooles Romlet Schutzhund Club who allowed us the use of their facilities over the weekend and gave us all their help and support …..
Cheers Guys.
Cheers......
From us ALL at the HABC
We look forward to seeing everyone again at our
next show on Sun 3rd September 2006 venue being confirmed within the next couple of weeks so please keep checking the club website for details.
The photos of the winners should be up on the Club Website within the next couple of days….
